Dooars and Netball

Netball is a great team building game for the girls. It  empowers girls and builds confidence. The bonding that this team sport creates a safe space where the girls will  discuss among themselves about their lives and the problems they are facing.

Many times these discussions they might reveal if a girl is missing or a girl being coerced into married regardless whether they are of are legal marriage age..

Additionally many times, these discussions will alert us if any domestic violence is happening in their villages or in any of the girl's houses.

Once in such occasion, a girl informed that one of her friend was missing for few days. With the help of Red Alert, we were able to rescue her from a very perilous situation.

Charis is running these netball teams in four different villages with four senior and 3 junior team.

Sponsorship Programs

One of the most effective programs Charis has operated is to sponsor children for their education. The boy in the photo was rescued at the young age of 3. Tragically his mother was killed and his father was taken into police custody as he was accused of killing his mother.

From age 3 this child has received sponsored education. He is now in the 8thgrade and is thriving. A young girl from a similar situation has also benefited this type of education sponsorship.

By God's grace and the generous support of others we have seen many children complete their studies, graduate, and become stable and productive adults who give back those who have come from a disadvantaged background.

Teaching English

One of the major struggles in for children and young adults living in India is being able to speak English. Most of their parents have gone to local schools, where English was not their major language and subject.

To secure an interview, let alone employment in either are Government or corporate job being able to speak English is must.

I was blessed to be sent to a Christian School, where English was the main language. This has opened numerous doors for me over the years

English is one of the major languages used to communicate with around the world.
